How UCAS Tariff points work

UCAS Tariff points convert your qualification grades into a single score that UK universities use to set entry requirements. Three A grades at A level equal 144 points. The Access to HE Diploma can also score up to 144 points when all 45 graded credits are at Distinction.

How many UCAS points is the Access to HE Diploma?

How many UCAS points do you get for an A* at A level?

Do EPQ points count towards a university offer?
Most UK universities accept EPQ points towards an overall tariff offer. The EPQ is graded A* to E and carries 8 to 28 UCAS Tariff points. Check individual course pages, as some courses require specific A level grades alongside the EPQ.
Are UCAS Tariff points the same as university entry requirements?
No. Many universities also set subject-specific or grade-specific requirements alongside an overall tariff. Always check the entry requirements on the university's course page before applying.
